Welcome to the Ballfields at Craig Ranch in McKinney. Each team will be given two pool games and a 2 game guarantee bracket. The pool will not seed the bracket. Trophies will be awarded to 1st 2nd and 3rd place teams and individuals. USSSA rules and guidelines will be in affect for this tournament. The runs per 1/2 inning will be 5. The pitching cord will be buried. Coaches may not adjust the machine until one full inning is completed both coaches agree and the umpire agrees. The umpire may call a no pitch on a ball pitched out of the strike zone provided the player does not swing at it. Defensive coaches may not be inside the baselines. They cannot interfere with the offensive coach. 8&Under Tournament Rules Batters 1. Each batter will receive five pitches or three strikes. Each pitch will count even if the batter doesn’t swing. 2. If the pitch is outside the strike zone it will be called "no pitch". 3. The umpire will determine the strike zone. 4. Foul balls are foul balls and the batter will continue her at bat. However if the fifth pitch is fouled a maximum of two additional fouls will be allowed before the batter is called out. 5. The dropped third strike rule does not apply. 6. There will be no walks. 7. If the hit ball strikes the pitching machine it will be called a dead ball. Batter will advance to first base. Other runners may not advance unless forced. 8. Bunting will be allowed. 9. Teams may bat their entire roster but if they do not then they must follow substitution rules. If teams do not bat their line up they must bat 10. If you have fewer than 10 players and out will be recorded for the 10th batter. Teams that only have 8 players will not be allowed to play. 10. There will be 5 runs per ½ inning run rule. 11. The inflied fly rule is not in effect. Base Runners/Batters 1. Runners will be allowed to steal 2nd and 3rd. 2. Runners will not steal home. 3. Runners will advance home only on a hit ball or a live ball in play. 4. The runner cannot leave a base until the ball leaves the pitching machine. 5. A runner may not steal home on a ball over-thrown by the catcher. Field and Coaches 1. Bases will be set at 60 feet. 2. Pitching machine will be set at 34 feet with the back leg placed on the pitching rubber. The speed will be set at 36mph. 3. A coach is allowed in the field in Foul Territory behind the offensive coach’s box. 4. Ten defensive players must play on the field at one time. Only 6 allowed in infield positions: pitcher catcher SS 1st 2nd and 3rd base. 5. Coaches will be given a warning if they are caught messing with the machines without umpire approval. The second offense will be automatic removal of the pitching coach. 6. Coaches caught feeding the machine so the ball goes into the dirt or high to allow their runners to steal will be given a warning. The 2nd offense will result in an out. The runner stealing will be the runner that is given the out. There will not be a charge at the gate. Coolers are allowed in the park. USSSA regulation balls will be provided. The Ballfields is happy to announce that protective covering surrounds the spectator area. We look forward to seeing you at the Ballfields at Craig Ranch.
