Tournament Rules And Information

1. USSSA rules will apply. All teams must be registered USSSA. Teams must provide proof of insurance and must have copies of birth certificates available for inspection. Team representatives are to check in at least thirty minutes prior to the start of the first game.

2. Game format is as follows:

a. All Pool Games will be 60 min finish the batter. There will be a 6 run limit per ½ inning in pool play only.

b. Bracket Play will be seeded by pool play for this event. Bracket games will be 75 minutes finish the inning or 6 innings.

c. Undefeated team will be home team in the Championship game.

d. In leu of an IF game a 2 inning shootout will be played in the event of tie after the Championship game is played (2 one loss teams). Each team creates a new lineup for shootout and flips for home team. In the first inning the last batter in the lineup is placed on 2nd base to start the inning. In the second inning the last completed at bat is placed on 2nd. If both teams are tied at the end of the 2nd shootout inning additional innings will be played with last completed at bat starting on 2nd until a winner can be declared.

3. An 8 run rule after 5 innings 10 run after 4 innings and 12 runs after 3 will apply in all games.

4. Teams must be ready to play 15 minutes prior to game time in the event the previous game ends early.

5. Umpires will allow pitchers five pitches or 1 minutes between innings (whichever is less). Teams should hurry on and off the field to ensure pitcher/catcher warm-ups. It is imperative that any post-game team meetings not take place until the dugout is cleared and cleaned and the field is vacated. Likewise teams should be ready to occupy the dugout and be prepared to start.

6. Home team will be official scorekeeper. Home team is determined by coin toss. Visitor team will run scoreboard unless one has been assigned by the tournament director.

7. Tournament directors reserve the right to re-schedule games or delay games if conditions warrant.

8. Gate Fees will be $5 per day.

9. Coaches are responsible for providing insurance for their teams and players. USSSA the host team and Tournament Director can not be held liable to player injuries during the course of the game.

8-U COACH PITCH TOURNAMENT RULES

USSSA RULES APPLY IN ALL GAMES WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS:

  1. Pool games will be 60 minutes finish the inning. Bracket Games will be 70 minutes finish the inning. Teams will be seeded into the bracket. (Exception to Rule 2 in rulebook)
  2. 6 runs or 3 outs per ½ inning. Following the 3rd out or 6th run scored all play is stopped so as to prevent injury.
  3. If Coach-Pitcher is hit by pitch this will be a dead ball do over. All runners will revert to their previous base and the batter will assume the previous pitch count.
  4. The Coach-Pitcher may pitch at any distance inside the 8 ft pitching circle and within the boundaries of the 24 inch pitching rubber. To clarify the Coach-Pitcher must be touching or be directly in front of the pitching rubber and use a straight ahead pitching approach. Coach-Pitchers may not pitch from either side of the pitching rubber so as to gain the advantage of a directional hit.
    1. Penalty : if at any time prior to release of the ball the Coach-Pitcher steps outside of the pitching circle or is outside the imaginary 24 inch pitching rubber boundaries a no-pitch will be called.
  5. While the ball is in play all runners are free to advance at their own risk. Play is stopped on defense by stopping the lead runner. Once the lead runner has been stopped the ball is no longer in play the ball is thrown to the pitchers circle and no runner may advance.
    1. Example #1 : Runner “A” is at 2nd base when the batter (Runner “B”) hits the ball. Runner “A” then runs and reaches third base safely while the ball is fielded and is thrown to the 3rd baseman who now possesses the ball and is capable of tagging Runner “A” out if she was to attempt to advance. The Umpire declares Play stopped. The ball is then thrown to the pitching circle and Runner “B” is halted at 1st base.
    2. Example #2: Using the same scenario as Example #1 Runner “A” is at 2nd base when the batter (Runner “B”) hits the ball. Runner “A” however is tagged out prior to reaching 3rd base. In this scenario the ball is not dead but rather Runner “B” would now become the lead runner and may continue to advance at her own risk until she is declared out or her progress is stopped by the defense resulting in the umpire stopping play and the ball being thrown to the pitching circle.
  6. Girls can leave the base when the coach releases the pitch.
  7. Run rule is 12 after 3 10 after 4 8 after 5.
  8. Unlimited amount of players on roster.
  9. Can bat up to all players. Line-up may consist of 10 players with up to 3 P’s
  10. Dead ball if Pitcher-coach is hit by pitch or interferes with the play
  11. No stealing Bunting or Slapping
  12. No intentional walks
  13. There will be no “Infield Fly Rule” for 8-Under
